Annual Historical Festival of Bali Yatra begins in Cuttack


Cuttack: The annual historical festival of Bali yatra begins on the bank of Mahanadi River at Gadagadia Ghat in the evening. Health and Law Minister Pratap Jena inaugurated a grand festival in the presence of city Mayor Meenakshi Behera along with Culture Minister Ashok Panda and Sports Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera.

The weekly fair will continue till November 10 but local people here in Cuttack are hoping that the local administration will allow the festivities to continue for another two days till the end of next week.

Local administration is organizing festival in 30 acres of area on riverbank. On the inauguration day, more than 1 Lakh revelers recorded in both the fair grounds.

The fair base of more than 300 stalls, displaying ethnic household goods, which wear decorative accessories from the apparel. The main crowd of Meena Bazaar festival, including huge Giant wheels or Ram Doli , hydraulic swings, toy trains and fun rides On Saturday.

In order to maintain law and order during the festival, the Commissioner of Police has made a detailed arrangement. DCP Akhileshwar Singh of the city said that about 50 Platoons of Armed Police, including quick action team, anti-liquor party, anti-sabotage and anti-terror squad, will be deployed around and around the festival grounds. In addition to this, the city traffic police has also prepared to ensure Jam free traffic on the roads.

Several MPs and MLAs from the district and neighboring districts were also present in the inaugural function, presided over by District Collector Sushant Mohapatra.
