Chita Lagi Amabasya Besha


Chita represents the embellishment of the forehead and Chita Lagi Amabasya Besha is the besha in which the deities are made to wear the beautiful head ornaments or chitas crafted out of gold, diamonds, emerald and sapphire. These ornaments are adorned on the Amabasya or New Moon day of the Sravana month, which corresponds with July-August. The besha also includes the head ornament called Rahu rekha, which is removed on the occasion of Snana Purnima and the re-adorned in Sravana month.
