Naba Jaubana Besha

Naba Jaubana Besha means the fresh and youthful look of Lord Jagannath, which is adorned on the New Moon day of the Asadh month of the Hindu calendar, corresponding with June or July. After the ceremonious bathing ritual of the deities, they are said to have taken ill and require some time for leisure. For this purpose, they are sent to the Anasara Ghara or the leisure room, where they can rest for a period of 15 days. At the end of this seclusion period, the deities come out in attractive costumes, and this is known as the Naba Jaubana Besha of Lord Jagannath.
