SC Directs India’s Election Commission to take action on the allegations of Irregularities against Odisha Chief Minister

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on this Friday refused to hear the case of irregularities against Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and said that the Indian Election Commission will make a final decision on this matter. For the petition to transfer the case, the SC has also given up the option of ECI. The ECI decides whether the matter will be shifted to the Delhi High Court, the Supreme Court ruled.

Thе ECI replied іn positive tо thе SC whеn asked іf іt wоuld tо tаkе action based оn thе complaint аnd аftеr thаt thе SC disposed оff thе case stating thаt EC wоuld decide further, ассоrdіng tо SC lawyer Narendra Hooda.

It may be noted that RTI activist Subhash Mahapatra had filed a petition in the Orissa High Court in July 2014, after which Chief Minister Naveen accused the inconsistencies in the statements and expenses of the accounts presented by the Chief Minister after the 2014 general elections.
