Stampede During the Rathha Yatra claims two lives and leaves 12 others injured; deaths condoled by CM Naveen Patnaik


Puri: An unfortunate incident took place in Puri during the Ratha Yatra as a stampede resulted in the death of two women. The stampede took place in the stretch between the Market Chaak and Balagandi Chaak.  Also, 12 more people were critically injured in the incident and they had to be admitted to Puri Headquarters Hospital for treatment. Two of them were in critical condition, and were refereed to Cuttack SCB Medical.

CM Naveen Patnaik has given his condolences to the affected and has announced all the medical expenses of the injured people will be borne by the state government.

Puri has been visited by a large number of pilgrims this year to be a part of the first Rath Yatra of the century. They eagerly awaited the darshan of the idols, which have been carved newly.
